keeping it green.

Our mission at posy people is to produce a completely sustainable posy that in part gives back to the environment that so generously provided it.

We’re not claiming to be perfect and although we haven’t mastered the art of it completely, our goal is to reach a point where our processes and products are 100% sustainable from start to finish.

slow flowers

we are proudly committed to the slow flower movement. slow flowers encourages consumers to support their local economy and consciously purchase flowers grown locally, seasonally and ethically, instead of purchasing imported flowers.

being sustainable is a constant work in progress,

here's where we’re at now…

sourcing local flowers.

we source our flowers from local growers within NSW that practice sustainability by working with the land, and growing with the seasons. this approach allows us to minimise plastic usage while supporting our commitment to not buying imported flowers.

composting.

our floral waste is placed in our FOGO bin which is a service provided by our local council. it is collected weekly and turned into quality compost. watch this space! in a year's time we will fill (ha) you in on how much waste we have saved from going to landfill.

foam + synthetic + bleach free.

we prioritise health, ecosystem, and sustainability. therefore, we avoid using floral foam, wire, dyed or bleached flowers, toxic preservatives, plastic wrap, elastic bands, synthetic ribbons, and bleach.

terracycle.

we have a TerraCycle bin in our studio. this collects the non-recyclable + non reusable packaging that is sometimes unavoidable. when filled, we send our box back to TerraCycle and they recycle everything! these soft plastics are broken down into small pieces, converted into small pellets that are reused for new products and saved from landfil!

reusing materials.

cardboard, bubble wrap, elastic bands and paper packaging from gift deliveries are stored and re-purposed for protecting work surfaces and for safe transport of orders. eventually when these items can’t be used anymore, we responsibly dispose of them through terraCycle or our curb side recycling bin. we also encourage you to re-use our wrapping, gift boxes and ribbon!

carbon footprint

we still use cars to deliver your posies. we do our best to offset this by contributing $1 from each posy to trillion trees. after 12 months of operations we can be accessed by the Carbon Reduction Institute and hope to receive a certification as a NoCO2 Business. to achieve this we will further offset our carbon footprint by purchasing carbon credits from a range of projects.
